Athletic Therapy

Athletic therapists follow a sports medicine model of care to treat both acute and chronic injuries.  Athletic therapists specialize in assessment, intervention and prevention of a variety of musculoskeletal conditions. They are also trained to be First Responders for on field emergency care in any level of sport and can assist in concussion management. Athletic Therapists focus on using strategies to assist patients in returning to the activity of their choice. 


Our athletic therapists offer a variety of treatment techniques including:

  • Exercise prescription

  • Soft tissue mobilization 

  • Modalities

  • Supportive Taping 

 
 

Kinesiology

Kinesiologists are human movement specialists who work with people of all ages to improve their physical function and overall health. Kinesiologists assess movement, functional capacity and strength to provide individualized health and performance programs. Kinesiologists can work with you to actively rehabilitate an injury, improve fitness and function and improve sport performance. 

 

Our kinesiologists offer a variety of services including:

Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS)

Intramuscular Stimulation (IMS) is a treatment method which uses acupuncture needles to decrease pain by desensitizing muscles and nerves. A needle is inserted into a muscle, causing a twitch response. This response leads to a decrease in muscle tension and neuropathic pain. 

IMS can be used in the treatment of a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Headaches, whiplash

  • Tendinitis, muscle strain

  • Joint pain, low back pain

  • Sciatica, nerve irritation

 
 

Custom Bracing

Bracing can be used to address a variety of orthopedic conditions. Whether you are recovering from surgery or trying to manage joint pain, custom bracing is often a great option. 

Bracing can be prescribed for a variety of joints and conditions, including the knee (ligament or meniscus injury, osteoarthritis), ankle (sprains), wrist (tendinitis, carpal tunnel), etc. We select a brace based on an assessment of your movement, joint range of motion, strength and function. Custom measurements are taken to ensure a proper fit. 

We offer a variety of custom, high quality bracing brands, including DonJoy and Bauerfiend.

Vertigo & Dizziness

The vestibular system, which includes the inner ear, provides your brain with information about balance, posture and spatial orientation. Common symptoms of vestibular issues include vertigo, dizziness, nausea and altered balance. 


Vestibular rehabilitation is provided by specially trained physiotherapists to effectively treat many common causes of vertigo and dizziness, such as BPPV, cervicogenic headaches, labyrinthitis, neuritis, motion sensitivity, balance/postural issues and post-concussion syndrome. 

 
 

Shockwave Therapy

Shockwave therapy is a noninvasive technique that uses high energy acoustic waves to increase blood flow, accelerate healing and decrease pain. 

Shockwave can be used in the treatment of a variety of musculoskeletal conditions, including but not limited to:

  • Plantar Fasciitis

  • Tendinitis

  • Rotator cuff calcification

  • Tennis elbow

 

Telehealth Virtual Care

If you are unable to attend in person treatment, we have you covered! Telehealth virtual care allows you to access care from the comfort of your own home using your computer or tablet. All you need is an internet connection, a computer with a camera/speakers and the latest version of Google Chrome. 


To ensure confidentiality, Telehealth is provided through our Jane online booking system. Jane offers a secure, encrypted video conferencing option that is HIPPA compliant.
